History:

Established 2012 by Betty Bengo and Peter Serunjoji, Malaika Orphanage Children Foundation is a licensed non- profit organization in Uganda and a 501(c)( 3) in Texas USA.
There are people who make things happen. And there are people who watch things happen!
For Betty, a native of Uganda who lives in Arlington Texas with her husband Peter and their children, making things happen, particularly on matters of women, children and youth welfare is almost a second nature.

After witnessing the terrible hardships that women and children in Uganda go through, Betty and her husband Peter took a bold step a few years ago to convert a family property into a home for the most vulnerable and orphaned children. Is then that Malaika Orphanage Children Foundation was born.

Malaika is a Swahili name meaning ‘angel’. MOCF cares for the most vulnerable children in Uganda, Orphans, Persons with Disability and HIV Infected Children.
As a teenage girl growing up in Kampala, the Capital City of Uganda, I witnessed at firsthand the abuse of women and neglect of children as a result of death of parents.
I witnessed underage girls being married off. Children having children without any support.
As a Human rights Attorney, my passion has always been to help those in need especially the most vulnerable children around the Globe.

Here in USA, Malaika Orphanage Children Foundation is ready to make things happen. Malaika has taken an initiative to design Character Education and Leadership Development Program to benefit the Youth in the Community. Currently Malaika has partnered with Harmony Science Academy in Grand Prairie Texas to facilitate and Mentor the Youth.
Malaika is committed to making positive contributions to the community, and to promoting a democratic way of life based upon justice, equality, respect for all people and opportunity to learn positive life skills that include self-management, interpersonal communication, mentoring, goal setting and effective conflict resolution.
